Townhouses, Condos, and Co-ops, Oh My! Tips and Tricks for Researching New York City Real Estate

Speaker: Kelly Labrecque; Senior Consultant, The Helen Brown Group

Real estate is a major factor in determining a prospect’s capacity. And since a great number of high-net-worth donors have multiple homes around the country, it is important to know where to look to confirm ownership and how to estimate value. This webinar will focus on confirming ownership, estimating property value, and following real estate market trends in New York City. This market was chosen because of the relative challenge it presents to both new and seasoned researchers. Helen Brown Group’s Kelly Labrecque will first give an overview of the real estate market New York City, including up and coming neighborhoods and current sales trends. Next, she will focus on the different types of real estate in New York City such as cooperative apartments, condominiums, and townhouses. Finally, she will present tools (free and subscription-based) for confirming ownership and estimating the value of the different property types.

Kelly Labrecque is a senior consultant at The Helen Brown Group. Prior to joining HBG in July 2013, she was a research analyst at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the Division of Development & Jimmy Fund as part of the prospect identification team. Kelly began her career in development in 2008 in major gifts at Wheaton College (MA). She received a B.A. in psychology from Saint Anselm College in 1998. Kelly’s research interests include real estate, international research, and securities. She is also an amateur equestrian and fan of British history.
