The Power of the Manual: Turning Prospect Management Policies into a Roadmap for Success

Speaker: Jennifer Pizzolo

Developing a prospect management policies and procedures manual is no small feat — but the effort pays off. In this session, we’ll explore how creating a manual can help define your team’s identity, expose process gaps, and strengthen your strategic foundation. Drawing from my own experience building one from the ground up in a new role, I’ll walk through lessons learned, common roadblocks, and strategies for making the process both manageable and meaningful. Whether you’re starting fresh or refining existing documentation, you’ll leave with ideas and inspiration to bring back to your team.

Jennifer brings more than 15 years of nonprofit experience to her role, beginning her career as a development officer before transitioning into prospect development. Her frontline fundraising background gives her a unique perspective on how data can support relationship-building and strategic decision-making. As a Prospect Development Manager, Jennifer approaches her work holistically — always thinking beyond the immediate request. She doesn’t simply run reports; she evaluates their long-term value, asks how the data can be improved, and considers what changes today will lead to stronger insights years from now. Her strategic mindset and commitment to continuous refinement help ensure that both gift officers and leadership have the information they need to move their work forward with clarity and confidence.
